Australia’s Neil Robertson aims to hit 2012 Masters semifinals at Alexandra Palace – Snooker News
Former World Snooker Champion, Australia’s Neil Robertson, is practicing at WT’s Snooker and Sporting Club to get himself ready for the upcoming 2012 Masters snooker tournament. The Aussie has been in good form from the very beginning of the
current snooker season and hopes to do well in the coming tournaments.
The Victorian potter has never been a sound performer in the Masters, as he has never reached the semi-final stage of the event. However, now he believes that after reaching the semi-finals of the 2011 UK Championship at the York Barbican Centre,
he can surely survive in the Masters and will make it, at least, to the final stages of the contest.
Speaking to the local reporters about his ambition, the Australian said, “It was the first time I’d reached the semi-finals of the UK Championship, I had quite a poor record there. The Masters is another tournament I haven’t reached the semi-finals
of yet.”
The Thunder from Down Under clinched the 2010 World Snooker Championship, one of the Triple Crowns of Snooker, comprehensively beating Scotland’s Graeme Dott 18-13. He reached the penultimate stage of the 2011 UK Championship and is now thoroughly
determined to make his presence felt at the Alexandra Palace.
The Cambridge-based Australian has hit the World Number three spot after his scintillating performance in the 2011 UK Championship. Despite his loss by 9-7 against Judd Trump in the semi-final, the Melbourne Machine managed to maintain his brilliant
performance and is looking forward for a thrilling Masters event.
The 29-year-old added, “I’m pleased with my form now, especially considering how I started the season when I went down to eight or nine in the world. It was the first time I’d reached the semi-finals of the UK Championship.”
Robertson will meet Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen in the first round of the 2012 Masters, which will commence on January 15 featuring all top dogs of snooker. It will be interesting to see how well Robertson performs in the upcoming 2012
Masters snooker tournament.
