Australia’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 – News Update
Australia’s star all-rounder Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 was disappointed over the result of the second Test of the three-match series against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka on Monday, September 12, 2011.
The tourists performed extremely well and were in a great position to win the match and take the series by 2-0, having already won the first Test.
However, rain and bad light came to the rescue of the Sri Lankan team, as the second Test ended in a draw. This has given a chance to the hosts to level the series by winning the final match in Colombo.
Watson stated, “That’s the most disappointing thing about this Test. We played really well throughout the whole Test and didn’t get the result to be able to win the series. We’re really going to have to be on, because if we’re not on in the last Test we
could draw the series.”
The flamboyant player further stated, “Given how well we’ve played over the last two Tests we’ll be letting ourselves down if we don’t play as well as we know we can and give them a chance to get back into the series.”
On the other hand, Australia’s skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 was pleased with the effort of his side and was looking forward to continue his dominant run over the Sri Lankan team.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377 has rejoined the team and will be eager to play the final Test.
This will mean that one of the three left-handed batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729 will have to make way for the stylish first-drop player.
Considering the performance of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-James-Marshall-c90362 in his debut Test, he will be confident of being in the playing-eleven. The 28-year-old batted at number three and scored 141 runs in his first ever outing in the longest version of the game.
This will leave Hughes and Khawaja behind, who are yet to cement their place in the team. Both youngsters will be under immense pressure and will have to wait for their luck for a couple of days.
