Australia’s Shane Watson ready to bat at any number – News Update
Australia’s all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558 has claimed that he will be ready to bat at any number if his side requires so. The star player currently opens the innings for his side in all three formats of the game.
Opening the innings in Test cricket requires a batsman to score big runs, which http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 has not been able to achieve in his career until now. However, he is currently enjoying the pressure of starting the innings for his team and being used as the fourth
seamer in the longest version of the game.
The 30-year-old stated, “I feel my body is really coping and handling the overs a lot better as well. At the moment I’m definitely opening the batting, but if my role changes a little bit I’m happy to bat anywhere to make sure we’ve got the best people in
the right positions.”
The Aussie player further added that it is always tougher to be an all-rounder rather than being a specialist player. He claimed, “There’s no doubt being an all-rounder and bowling, mentally and physically it does take a lot more out of you than guys who
just bat. But that’s part of being an all-rounder, being able to play a role in the game whether I’m batting or bowling.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 are currently playing in Sri Lanka and have done well against the hosts in 50-over and Test match cricket.
The Kangaroos did lose the two-match Twenty20 series, but bounced back strongly by winning the One Day International (ODI) series. They are currently in control of the longest version of the game as well, leading by 1-0 with one more game remaining.
Watson has been performing with consistency in all three formats of the game. However, the star player has not been able to pile a big score in any of the Tests played until now.
This will be a challenging task for the Aussie cricketer to come up with some solid performances in the longest version of the game in order to cement his position as an opener.
Australia will play http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in the final Test of the series in Colombo on Friday, September 16, 2011.
