Australia’s Twenty20 skipper Cameron White determined to do well – Cricket News Update
Australia’s Twenty20 skipper Cameron White was determined to do well both as captain and batsman in the upcoming series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in order to find a spot in the One Day International (ODI) squad.
White was named skipper of the shortest format of the game after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 decided to quit Twenty20 cricket in order to fully focus on his ODI and Test match performances.
Although leading the Aussie side was an honour for White, it also brought a few challenges for him. He will have to lead a young side set example by scoring some runs.
The flamboyant batsman has not scored a half-century in any format of the game since October, 2010. He will have to turn things around pretty quickly in order to lead the team without any pressure.
The 28-year-old was well aware of what was needed to be done and he was geared up to fight his way back in ODI cricket. He stated, “I’d love to be playing one-day cricket. That’s the way it is. I’m desperate to get back into the side. Part of that is going
to be scoring runs for Victoria, which is something to focus on when I get back.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 will play two Twenty20 matches on the South African tour, starting from Thursday, October 13, 2011 in Cape Town.
Some big names including http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 will be missing from the home team’s squad and this might give White an opportunity to dominate the opposition.
However, the Aussie stated, “They are some very big losses for them. They’re pretty extraordinary players and big losses. But no doubt they’re a strong country and they’ll have very good replacements.”
Steyn and Kallis have been rested whereas de Villiers was ruled out of the series due to a fractured finger. He was going to lead the side in the shorter versions of the game, but will be out of action for some time.
Stylish right-handed batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GC-Smith-c1473 will take charge in the Test matches.
