Australia’s captain Michael Clarke fully focussed on winning – Cricket News Update
Australia’s Test and One Day International (ODI) skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 has claimed to keeping his entire focus on winning and doing well for the team.
Clarke will be leading his side in three ODIs and two Test matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in October/November, 2011. However, the team will be led by Cameron White in a couple of Twenty20s before the longer formats begin.
According to the 30-year-old, “I certainly won’t be compromising the team or my individual preparation for anything off the field. It’s been fine so far and I’m confident that will continue. It is important for me that my preparation comes first - if I’m
not scoring runs I’m not in the team so I can’t be captain.”
The stylish middle-order batsman further added, “There’s going to be challenges along the way no doubt, but as long as I’ve got time to do my own preparation and make sure I’m ready to walk out onto the field and perform individually and also help my team,
I think it’ll be fine.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120’s stint as captain with the team has been good until now. He took charge after the team failed to make it to the Final of the ICC World Cup 2011 in Subcontinent.
Former skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377 stepped down from captaincy, but continued as a player. This allowed Clarke to take charge of the team as a full time leader.
His first series as a full time captain was against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in their next assignment.
This was a real Test for Clarke, as the Sri Lankan team have always been competitive on home soil.
However, the newly appointed skipper of the Kangaroos did not panic under pressure and guided his side to a Test and ODI series victory by a margin of 1-0 and 3-2 respectively.
The veteran player would have been pleased with his performance as captain, but will face a difficult challenge against South Africa.
The Proteas are currently number two in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625’s Test team rankings and will be tough to beat on home soil.
