Australia’s former Coach Tim Nielsen says ‘he has been living the dream’ – Cricket News Update
Soon after calling it quits as the head coach of the Australian national squad, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Timothy-John-Nielsen-c94043 revealed that he is satisfied with his four-year tenure as the team’s instructor, citing that he has been ‘living the dream’.
“Unfortunately I wasn’t good enough to play cricket for Australia, so I’ve been living the dream. This has been the greatest job that I could do,” said Nielsen. “I'm very proud of the fact that I've been able to do it for the past four years, which I feel
is a long term in international sport.”
Nielsen announced his retirement soon after the Aussies concluded their tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 with a win on the One Day International (ODI) competition and then the preceding 3-Test series.
Australia’s win at the Test series marked the side’s 9th triumph out of 15 since the team has been under Nielsen’s coaching. On the other hand, Nielsen also stated that he had led the outback squad to retain the ODI rankings' summit for a good
four years.
However, for Nielsen, things did not seem a little fair after all came crumbling down for the former cricketer, alongside many other senior Cricket Australia (CA) officials, such as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Mark-Jefferson-Hilditch-c44498 and Greg Chappel, who were asked to resign from their posts
since the Australian cricket fraternity came under a thorough spell of reshuffling and overhauling after the national team’s disappointing performance on the last Ashes series.
In Nielsen’s case, the instructor was asked to reapply for his job as the team’s Head Coach, which would then go through a proper procedure involving many other candidates for the designation.
However, Nielsen refused to reapply for the job citing that he now needs to take a break from CA.
“I won't work with Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the short term - it's a good chance for me to have a break and for them to have a change of scene. We'll just take a breath now” said Nielsen.
With Nielsen out of the ranks, CA will now be appointing an interim coach, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
