Austria and Czech Republic finalise arrangements for 2011 EuroVolley – Volleyball update
The highly anticipated European volleyball campaign, the 2011 EuroVolley, is fast approaching. The competition is set to take place from September 10 to 18, while Austria and the Czech Republic will serve as the hosts of this year’s tournament. A total of
sixteen of the best volleyball squads from all across the European continent will be on board to fight for the title of Europe’s best.
The grid of 16 teams will play in the following four pools:
Pool A - Austria, Serbia, Slovenia, and Turkey
Pool B - Italy, France, Finland, and Belgium
Pool C - Czech Republic, Russia, Estonia, and Portugal
Pool D – Poland, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Germany
Pool A and Pool C matches will be held in Austria, while Czech Republic will stage the field of play for Pool B and Pool D teams. The cities of Wien and Innsbruck in Austria have been chosen to showcase the volleyball action while Prague and Karlovy Vary
in Czech Republic have earned the right to host the 2011 EuroVolley matches.
All participants of the 2011 EuroVolley are preparing for the upcoming championship as respective volleyball federations and team coaches are busy re-aligning their teams. The normal training and practice sessions are in progress to hone the skills of athletes
before the official opening of 2011 EuroVolley.
The two host countries of this event are likely to be under huge focus during the campaign. Austria and Czech Republic, both are known as strong teams. In the upcoming competition, they will have the advantage of playing under familiar conditions. The home
courts and emotional support of local fans will provide them a great edge in the game. At the same time, they will also be playing in demanding conditions against some very solid teams.
The Czech Volleyball Federation is very focused on the matter and they plan to hold a press conference on Tuesday, May 31 in Prague. The assembly will be attended by top officials from the Czech Volleyball Federation and the CEV. The President of Czech Volleyball
Federation, Dr Zdenek Hanik , Vice President of the Confederation European de Volleyball (CEV), Dr. Jan Hronek and Mayor of Karlovy Vary, Ing Petr Kulhanek will be amongst the important figures at the press conference.
The prospects of the game in Prague and Karlovy Vary will be discussed and media personnel will be allowed to ask questions related to the upcoming campaign. Meanwhile, the uniform of the Czech National Team will also be unveiled at the press-conference.
This year, the official outfits for the Czech Team have been designed by major sport wear producer Addidas.
On the other hand, Austria is working on different projects. The arrangements are being finalised and the Austrian team is getting ready for the tournament in a less public way.
