Both Austria and the Czech Republic are giving the final touches to their preparations or the 2011 CEV Men’s Volleyball European Championship that will be hosted by both the countries. The tournament is scheduled to start from the September 10th and last
till September 18.
Austria and Czech Republic both have already received many players from Europe that are going to be showcasing their skill in the tournament. Apart from the honour and esteem the event itself enjoys, it has been giving an added amount of value this year.
The teams that will be able to finish the championship with flying colours will be getting a free pass into the 2011 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup that is scheduled to take place during the later part of this year. The dates set for the FIVB Men’s final
are from 20 November till the 4th December.
Peter Kleinmann, a high ranking official of the Austrian Volleyball Federation made the following comments about the upcoming event: “Austria and the Czech Republic are two countries at the very heart of Europe – and the host countries want to bring Volleyball
into the hearts of the European people. Vienna, Innsbruck, Prague and Karlovy Vary are four beautiful cities located in two beautiful countries. We are very pleased to have the possibility to show our neighbours the best we have in the field of sport and culture.
The cultural heritage is what unites the two countries. This is the special flavour of the upcoming event in the heart of Europe.”
Both the cities are going to be hosting alternative pools of the tournament. Austria will be making use of its two cities, the capital Vienna and Innsbruck to play host to both Pool A as well Pool C. On the other hand, Czech Republic has chosen Karlovy Vary
as well as its capital Prague to be able to welcome both Pool B and Pool D later on in the tournament.
Austria has been helped by prominent personalities belonging to different walks of life in order to promote volleyball in the country.
