Austria to play a friendly match with Brazil – Volleyball latest
The final round of the 2011 CEV Men’s European Championship is scheduled to take place in the coming month of September. A total of sixteen teams have qualified for the most influential final round of the championship and the Men’s National Volleyball Team
of Austria is also one of the contenders, who will be vying for the European title. Since the event is fast approaching and there is just one month left in the opening of tournament, the participating teams are undergoing extensive training and practice.
In this regard, Austrian Volleyball Federation has arranged a friendly match between Austria and triple world champion Brazil, which will be played today, Wednesday, August 3.
The Austrian City of Schwechat will host the match, while teams will take centre stage at the Multiversum Sports hall. It is indeed a great chance for Austrian Volleyball fans to enjoy a true treat before the start of European Championship, next month.
Austrian players will be coming back to the court after a break of two weeks. The Head Coach of Austrian Team, Michael Warm, is optimistic that his team will deliver a good performance as the squad is in a good shape. However, after two weeks’ break, they
will need some time to find their rhythm on the court.
Warm is very focused on today’s match as his side will clash with one of the strongest teams in the world. He knows that it is important to gain quality experience before the start of the 2011 CEV Men’s European Championship and match-up with teams like
Brazil will surely fulfil their requirement. He expressed his views about the contest in the following manner: “We will see quickly where we stand and where we still have deficits in comparison with the best team in the world. I reckon that the Brazilians
will play extremely fast – faster than we are used to in comparison with the teams we have been playing so far”.
The President of the Austrian Volleyball Federation, Peter Kleinmann, believes that this is going to be a great match with Brazil. It will be real test for Austrian team as Brazil is considered the powerhouse of volleyball throughout the world. Besides Brazilian
supremacy in football, the sport of volleyball is also their speciality and known as the number 1 sport in the country.
