Austrian International Challenge 2012: Wong Wai Hong and Chau Hoi Wah claim Mixed Doubles title
Hong Kong’s talented shuttlers Wong Wai Hong and Chau Hoi Wah proved their supremacy as they claimed Mixed Doubles title after beating Switzerland’s Anthony Dumartheray and Sabrina Jaquet in the final showdown of Austrian International Challenge 2012 in
Austria, on Saturday, February 25.
Wai Hong and Hoi Wah, who are currently World Number 35 in Mixed Doubles world standings, showed their striking performance against the lower ranked Anthony and Sabrina and won the battle in a completely one-sided manner with a comprehensive margin on the
score board.
The Swiss couple failed to live up to the expectations as their opponents Wai Hong and Hoi Wah, who were also top seeds in Mixed Doubles draw of the tournament, were on the highest level of the game.
The Hong Kong couple took just 21 minutes in the court to thrash their opponents in a completely one-sided fashion.
Wai Hong and Hoi Wah started their campaign in opening set of the match in an attacking way and remained successful in setting up an early lead. They were far ahead on the score board until the end of opening half.
After the break, Wai Hong and Hoi Wah continued their impressive play without dropping their speed at any stage. They did not let their lower ranked opponents to fight back and control the pace of rallies.
Wai Hong and Hoi Wah remained in a commanding position and ended the opening game with a tremendous 21-6 score on the board.
In the second game, Anthony and Sabrina tried to elevate their play but failed to produce good outcome as their higher ranked opponent did not make any mistake.
Wai Hong and Hoi Wah were in smashing from as they again took a wonderful lead in the opening half of second set.
The Hong Kong shuttlers remained ahead of their opponents in the concluding part of second game and remained successful in ending it in an emphatic fashion with a remarkable 21-10 score on the board.
This Mixed Doubles battle ended up in just 21 minutes with a one-sided score of 21-6 and 21-10.
