Austrian International: Martina Repiska beats Sarina Kohlfurst in Women’s Singles qualifying round
Slovakia’s talented player Martina Repiska showed a wonderful performance and continued her winning run in Women’s Singles qualifying round as she outplayed the local player Sarina Kohlfurst at Austrian International Challenge 2013 in Austria, on Wednesday,
February 20.
The un-seeded Martina, who remained impressive in her play in qualifying round of the tournament, played with incredible speed and remained successful in crushing Sarina who was the second see in the qualifying round.
Slovak shuttler showed a wonderful confidence on court and remained successful in winning the match in straight games without facing any considerable trouble. She took just 22 minutes in the arena and outplayed her local challenger in straight games with
a striking margin of 21-17 and 21-13.
On the contrary, the second seeded Sarina failed to play aggressive badminton as she could not control the pace of rallies. She failed to play positive game at crucial stages and eventually lost this match unexpectedly without snatching even a single game
from her rival.
Martina showed a wonderful aggression on court from the opening points of first set by building a remarkable pressure on her challenger.
The tempo of the rallies was quite fast in opening game and Martina entertained local fans with her impressive craft. Until the mid-game interval, the lofty Martina was leading the game with a wonderful difference.
After the one-minute break, the lofty Martina stayed fully focused on court and remained successful in keeping a comfortable gap on the score board.
The positive and attacking play of Martina helped her to stay in complete command of rallies and she clinched the first game with an inspiring margin of 21-17.
In the second game, the lower ranked Martina played with stunning speed without sparing any room for Sarina to find a good flow. She was at her best form in the arena and made no mistake in earning a wonderful lead at the early stage.
The well directed smashes and spinning net shots kept Martina ahead of her rival all the way until the end of first half in second game.
The aggressive and positive play in the ending part of second set assisted Martina to grab the set with a superb 21-13 total on the board.
