Austrian Michael Warm expresses optimism about improvement
Michael Warm is the head coach of Men’s National Volleyball Team of Austria. The Austrian Team is on board with 11 other European teams, who are fighting for the title of 2011 CEV Volleyball League Title.
Austria has been placed in Pool B alongside Spain, the Netherlands and Greece. So far, Austrian team has not been able to create a huge buzz on the podium. They could win only one match in the first four weeks of the preliminary robin round. Nonetheless,
there are two more weeks to go and Austrian team has the chance to shake off their bad impression.
In this regard, the mentor of team Michael Warm is quite optimistic about fifth-week matches. Austria is scheduled to take on Spain in the next run. The two sides will be featured in two matches on coming Friday and Saturday, June 24, 25. Quite recently,
Austrian team held a press conference in Innsbruck and various aspects of the upcoming matches were discussed by the coach and captain of Austrian team.
Austria scored its first victory of the tournament last week, while they defeated Netherlands. The coach Warm was overjoyed with the comeback victory of his team. This is where he bases his optimism and believes that his team is capable of making more surprises.
He said that Austria claimed a wonderful victory over Dutch opponents but the team has yet to achieve the level of excellence. He urged the players to put up a combined effort, play sensibly and avoid any silly mistakes. Speaking at the press conference,
he promised the local fans for a convincing performance against Spain in the next matches.
Likewise, the skipper of Austrian team Daniel Gavan looks forward to a positive development in the team. He also expressed a lot of hope that his side will stage a prolific play in the upcoming matches.
He said, “We want to play Volleyball at its best in St. Anton. At this altitude the ball flies faster. In St. Anton we have already been successful against Germany and Slovakia; we will see what is possible against Spain.”
Since the 5th-week matches will be hosted by Austria, the home team has a fair chance to do well. The emotional support of local fans and experience of practising at the same court would be a competitive edge for them.
Anyhow, Spain is always a tough side to deal with. The Spaniards have compiled great results in the previous four weeks of the campaign. They have lost only one match out of eight fixtures. Spain is the top team of Pool B and seems totally in form. It will
be a daunting task for Austria to overcome the power of charged-up Spaniards. Lets’ see if Austria can do more miracles in the upcoming matches.
