I have been reading a book on how japanese and some other asian cultures are healthier than americans and it has some recipes and good portion sizes but when I look up japanese recipes they seem to be americanized especially the portions. I have been working to cut back my portion sizes the last week and in one week I lost 2 pounds before that I was trying to cut back on the bad food and work out an hour a day on the treadmill it took me 3 weeks to loose a pound and a half. I am sure there is a key to the portion sizes as well as the type of food they eat.

Anyhow any information on authentic japanese meals and proper portion sizes would be greatly appreciated

  1. Well for rice, one person eats half a cup of rice cooked with half a cup of water, one bowl of miso ( the standard bowl for miso soup you can find them in Asian grocery stores), 100 grams of meat ( fish included), one egg, one cup of vegetables and finally one cup of fruit for desert.

  2. I haven't ever made japanese dishes, but I am sure you will find what you're looking for by googling "Authentic Japanese Recipes" and I have included some sites.
