Authors that smoked cigarettes?

Question

Does anyone know of any authors who smoked cigarettes? My parents claim only ignorant people smoke, but I am trying to prove them false by compiling a list of intelligent people who smoked. :)

I'm not sure how long ago that was asked.  Julia Phillips was a writer who smoked.  I tried looking it up too, no luck.
