  1. Have u ever heard of the Mosaics in Carmel?

  2. Melmark?  They have Melmark schools in MA.  Not sure about Indiana.  Also behavioranalysts.com which is located in California are ABA specialists which have a school called Stars.  Check it out.  They founder is a leading behavior analyst and has helped many children with autism.  Also, look into schools focusing on ABA which is shown to help treat autistic children and increase their skills.  Also, try schools that use ABLLS-R testing which focuses on the most important skills a child needs to learn.  This test was designed by the founder of behavioranalysts.com...  good luck!

  3. You can contact your local "Autism Speaks" They have lists of schools around the country. That is how I located the school my son attended. They can help with funding, support, lots of things. Google Autism Speaks with your state and county. Good luck.

  4. I am not sure about Indiana but if you went to the public school in your area they should be able to help you. Also check with the state department that works with people who have disabilities. I know here in Ohio we have a few schools for children with Autism. I would also make an apointment with a counselor or teacher of a school and they should be able to help you.

  5. I don't know about Indiana either, but we are teeming with them where I live.  I have professionally evaluated a number of them and usually judge the public school programs to be equal or better.  Some private schools - even the expensive ones - simply are not as good.  Some are very bad, despite their excellent reputation with parents.

While you are making the private school-public school decision please remember that your child will have a life after age 21, and this will require more funding from you and he will be eligible for fewer public services than ever.  Please don't make the mistake of ignoring his whole future.  Spend time considering his future needs in terms of SS waivers, special needs trusts, et cetera.  It will happen so fast.  If he can get a similar education in public school and you can save money for him later, that is the smartest decision.
