  1. I think so.. but by then we'll probably have flying cars and live on Mars.... I never hear of any fundraisers, or charities to support the research where we live... I sure hope they're working on it...

autism is a brain developmental disorder, and has a strong genetic basis...

"Early studies of twins estimated heritability explains more than 90% of the risk of autism, assuming a shared environment and no other genetic or medical syndromes.[14] However, most of the mutations that increase autism risk have not been identified. "

we  do not know what causes it exactly, it's a list of factors.... and all ( including vaccines, Kitty! ) HAVE NOT been scientifically proven. They are all hypothesis..

"Environmental factors that have been claimed to contribute to or exacerbate autism, or may be important in future research, include certain foods, infectious disease, heavy metals, solvents, diesel exhaust, PCBs, phthalates and phenols used in plastic products, pesticides, brominated flame retardants, alcohol, smoking, illicit drugs, vaccines,[6] and prenatal stress.[51] "

if we don't know what causes it... how can we correct it?

  2. my sister likes the subject.... maybe. i think it's just sumthin that will be able to get a medicine like ADD or ADHD. well in the future. idk about now.

  3. As a Certified Medical Assistant and a Mother of a mildly autistic daughter...

No I do not believe that there  will be a cure for autism.. The Brain is the most Complex Organ that baffles even the greatest of Scientists...

Unfortunately Autism and other brain disorders will never be cured by a pill or injection because they are too complex

It is nice to hope but IMO realistically speaking there will be no cure

To be truthfully honest why would you want to risk the side effects of trying to "CURE" an autistic child??

Autistic children are extremely Smart and Artistic and there is nothing wrong with that..

I would not change anything about my daughters condition

I actually do not believe it has anything to do with vaccines..

My daughters Alfa Feto Protein was abnormal and they thought  she was going to be a Down's Syndrome baby..

She does not have Down's but does have a form of Autism

I am positive it is something that the child is born with

i guess one must treat them with respect  and trust

not thier fault  they become a subject

  5. Yes, I have confidence in medical science and I believe autism will be a thing of the past some day.  Perhaps genetic engineering/therapy might be part of the answer.

  6. I am confident there will be a cure for autism in the future (hopefully the near future). I think autism has a lot to do with the vaccines that we are giving our kids these days (and way too early on!) I think when more people understand the causes of it, it will be taken more seriously and more people will be aiding in the search for a cure.

    My nephew has autism.

  7. I agree with the first person. Alot of research outside of the US show a direct tie to the early vaccination of children in the US and autism. The vaccines attack brain development, especially in males. Every country that has eliminated infant vaccines have seen a direct drop in autism and asthma cases. remember these vaccines are produced by drug companies which dont make their huge profits until we are sick. what better way to assure a one going supply of victims by poisoning them at birth. if you seriously research vaccines, as i have you would never vaccinate your infant child with this unknown substance, especially if it is a boy!

  8. I think we are far from a cure for autism.  I do believe that vaccines are linked to autism, but its not the whole picture.   I find it curious that many autistic children had a battle with chronic ear infections.  The antibiotic drops for ear infections still contain thimerisol.  I think it is a great start to green the vaccines.  By taking out the thimerisol, formaldyhyde, antifreeze etc is a start, and has to be a help for those with autoimmune predispositions.  I do believe that genetics are a component, brain injury, and maybe the alpha fetal protein.

Both my autistic sons had abnormal alpha fetal proteins, they were low and down syndrome was the concern.

We know that autism is an autoimmune disorder and that families with autoimmune disorders and neurological disorders are at higher risk, and males are higher risk than females.

My first son (autistic) was partially vaccinated, my second son (autistic) not vaccinated at all.

Of interest is that upon allergy testing what I had a +4, most severe allergy to is thimerisol- the ethyl mercury in vaccines that has caused so much fuss.  Also I am Rh- and received the rhogam shot when pregnant and it did contain thimerisol.

When I was pregnant with my second son and we had the abnormal alpha fetal protein, and were sent to genetics, and a specialist there was a lot of concern about my son's head size.  This was 3 years ago.  Macrocephaly (large head greater than 95th%tile) is caused by 5 things, genetics, dwarfism, tourettes, hydrocephaly, and the number 1 reason autism.  My son at 36 wks, measured 48.  They kept looking and looking and I said its autism.  In autism the frontal lobe begins growing wildly during the first trimester of pregnancy.  Everybody's mouths dropped.  They agreed off the record and my son was officially dx at 9 months by my oldest son's neurologist.

There is something recessive about autism, many of the kids are really attractive but have recessive traits.  My oldest has green eyes.  Only 1-2% of the population has green eyes.  No one in our family has green eyes.  Neither me or my husband were aware that either of us could be a carrier for green eyes.  My middle son has blue.  My typical son is brown.  It is interesting that estimates of eyecolor in autism are 75% recessive.

It is also interesting that many autistic children had a brain trauma.  My oldest, the placenta abrupted, he had hypoxia, his heart rate was 50 when he was born at 34 wks via emergency c-section and he was on a ventilator my middle had a stroke.

I believe that there will be an alternate vaccine schedule for those babies thought to be high risk, and I believe that the vaccine schedule will be altered in the near future.

Both my boys are high functioning.  The oldest has social skills but they need work, he is well liked, he struggles academically, and with fine motor.  He is still getting speech thx.  He is PDD.NOS and is in a general ed class.  My middle has less people skills but is very smart, fine motor is ok.  He will be 3.  He is also dx PDD.NOS but looks more asperger's and will probably carry an asperger dx once his speech delay is gone.  He does understand pronouns, prepositions and action verbs, something my oldest didn't understand till 5-6.  Also he was potty trained fully-even at night at 32 months which isn't even delayed.  He has no cognitive delays even though his speech is.  He has scattered abilities that never hit a ceiling up to 72 months old.  Unusual.  So who is higher functioning idk.  My husband thinks the oldest, I think the middle.

Usually though in autistic siblings the autism gets progressively worse as you go down the birth order.  And many times the first is ADD/ADHD, then next may be speech delay or PDD.NOS, and then the autism.  It is interesting to that once you have 2 autistic children your chance at a third is more likely to be autistic than not.

For all that we do know, there is so much more that we don't.  And theories of autism that are just coming into fruition are things that families with autism have taken as fact for years.  Like the genetics, and the vaccines.

  9. I do not believe they will find a cure for autism, I believe they will find the cause. I care for my niece who has Autism. I am in the health field and in the past 12 years since she has been diagnosed I have researched a lot of material. I do not fully support the connection of immunisation because what about the children like my niece who was born with infantile autism ( born with autism). I have through constant research noted the growing diagnosis of autism/aspergers as the world has increased in polutants and pest control that get into our bodies through air, foods and basically most items we have. Look at all the recalls of food, childrens toys and even clothing treated with dangerous chemicals. The brain and the nervous system is a very complex system and from conception can through a variety of unknown sources develop

and result in a child born with a disorder of the brains function. Many disabilities that are on the rise, autism, cerebal palsy etc must be caused by some external factor that when the babies nervous sytem and brain are forming something happens. I am not a scientist just noted the huge swing in disabilities such as autism. My main focus is in my situation is in intervention and helping my niece through programs assist her brain is finding ways to control her autism, with amazing results. She will always have autism it is more on giving her a way to live her life as it is and find a way to participate in the confusing world around her. So again I do not believe they will find a cure but the cause.
