My cousin accidently hit and damaged exterior part of my vehicle when he was trying to back up his vehicle. The cost of repair might come around some 2000 should I file the insurance claim or handle it my self

  2. your cousin backed into your car??  Why would you just handle it.

    File a claim under his insurance and let them handle this. they owe you for the cost of repairs and a rental vehicle while your's is in the shop.

  3. he hit you its his no claims bonus hes losing not you! and if he can afford it i would say it would work out cheaper in the long run if he can sort it on his own

    I assume your vehicle was parked. Your cousin (driving his own vehicle) backed his car into your parked vehicle.

    Does your cousin live in a separate household from you? If yes, then should be able to file a liability claim against his policy for the repairs to your vehicle.

    Or if you have collision coverage - you can file a claim against that and your insurance company will pursue your cousin's policy for re-payment.

    If your cousin has the money to pay you out of pocket for the damage - it is ok to do that. However, most people don't have that kind of money and you would end up having to file a claim.
