lane of 6-lane beltway counting from the left. One person driving an Altima on the second lane (from the left) was going too fast while cars in front of him coming to a slow or stop traffic. He was hitting the brake hard and the car skidded, the tires were smoking. He came on to the 3rd lane perpendicular with the traffic flow and hit another car at the driver's rear side wheel. Since his car was still at high speed, for some reason his car went on to the 5th lane a little bit and spun around 180 degrees. This time the front of his car is facing the jersey wall on the left. At the same time, my car was still moving but slowing down while I was travelling about 60mph when I saw his car was doing the dance. My car front collided with his car at the left of the front bumper. Our cars were almost perpendicular to each other. After our cars collided, his car still went forward a little bit and ended right in the middle of my travel lane. Who is at fault? I got a ticket for follow2close

  1. all drivers that had a collision were at fault for losing control of their vehicle. If other guy got tix it is fair. Get a witness and go to court they will mediate it down to a non moving violation since it is really all about the money anyways.

  2. Did you stay in your lane? Sounds like you were ticketed improperly. If everything you say is correct (verify on police report, witnesses, etc). The other driver should be at fault for not maintaining control of his vehicle.

This just happened to my son who slid on some ice to avoid another vehicle and turned sideways. He came to a complete stop, sideways, and a car behind him t-boned him. My son was found at fault for not controlling his vehicle.

I would definitely fight this one. Call your insurance company and tell them the details

  3. Its the law and control will the the key to the whole issue.
