I have always had one of the majors, but a friend has Countrywide? Is there a disadvantage going with a "cheaper" company? I told her a major company might be able to get her cheaper rates than Countrywide? She is female, 23, no accidents - currently a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but looking into a Mazda 3.

  1. In your sitation,I would like to suggest you have a look here.

  2. Like the others said -- you get what you pay for. Take a company like State farm; have you been to ANY town in the U.S. and didn't see a State Farm agent's office? If you have a collision on Sundy afternoon in Sogbottom Iowa do you really think a 'virtual' company would pick you up and drive you to a hotel or airport or assist with a local car rental? I have heard stories about local agents that do this sort of stuff all the time for policyholders. State Farm's claims division is gigantic. They have thousands of apprasiers and claims adjusters and billions of dollars in reserves to handle any catastrophe, not to mention a complete technical research, injury and law division. The point being, you never really need insurance -----until you REALLY NEED insurance. Get it?

A site I've recommended in the past would be...

    Hope that helps.

  3. Here what you need to do:

Step One: Obtain multiple insurance quote here:

Step Two: Check ratings of Insurance Companies, which give you the best rate here:

    http://www.ambest.com

Generally company rated AA and up is a good company. Good luck.

  4. The best thing you can do is shop around. And if you or your parents are in the military, USAA is a best bet. Every insurance company varies slightly in policy, rates and such...

ignore people swearing "This" or "That" company is the cheapest, because who is cheapest will actually VARY per person, because every insured individual bears many different factors that add up to the mathematical outcome we call the insurance bill, and different companies see different vehicles differently. Some companies check ticket records for 3 years, others 5 or 6 years.

    if u get my drift

  5. Geico online is the best and cheapest.

  6. Insurance rates are based on many variables so saying one company is better because it is cheaper may not be the whole  story.  I prefer a company who has a physical presence in my town, an agent who I can talk to face to face, a local office I can call if I need to.  Insurance companies are rated.  Two of the top raters are A. M. Best company and J. D. Powers
