Question:

Autocad 2002-How do I assign a footage value to a line I draw?

I have attached an image of a real estate platt with specific dimensions. I wish to draw over a line of known footage and set my line to that footage, so that the rest of the drawing is on the same scale as the platt image. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

  1. The easiest way to do this would be to scale the image in "real units".

Start the scale command, select the image and select a basepoint.

After you select the basepoint, press "R" for reference.  For the first pick point, select a point at the end of a known dimension.  For the second point, select the other end of this known dimension. Then input the length as it is stated on the image.

After you set the scale of the image, you can draw a line on top of that image and it should be the correct length.
