like every time i try to bid, i always get outbidd by an automatic bid. I bidded 5 times already and I am still outbid. So what's an auto bid, and do they just keep going. Or is that some kind of trick?

  1. It's not a trick as such.  There's a program you can use to do it.  I think is called snipe.  The program puts your bid in during that last minute or so of the bidding.  If it's timed right, other people or programs don't have time to counter-bid and you win.  I don't care for that method, either.  It's kind of like cheating.  I've never used it, but have learned to bid during the last minute if I can.

  2. Let's say that you and I want the same thing that is currently at $.99 and no one has bid yet.  If you are first, then you will put in the maximum that you want to bid, let's say $30.  Then I come along, and say that my maximum is $5.00.  Since you already said you would pay $30 for it, I am outbid, and the item will show that the current price is $5.50. (for example)  That will keep happening until I bid $30.01 because I have now beat your maximum and I am the high bidder!

The key to eBay is buying when no one else is looking for your item, and if they are, then don't bid until the last 42 seconds.  That way, if I would have bid $30.01, you wouldn't have time to put in a higher bid and I would beat you!

Go to http://www.researcher.mpire.com  to see what is the best time and day to SELL something....and then do the opposite!  It shows actual sales from the past 30 days and it's amazing!

Good luck and let me know if you need any more help!

PS  That site is AMAZING to decide when/what to sell.

  3. All you have to do in order to win an auction is to bid more than everyone else.  It doesn't matter when you place your bid.   Whoever bids the most for an auction wins it.

  4. No from what i know the auto bids are there to outbid others up to a certain amount of money. So if i want to auto bid up to £50 then as soon as you reach more than £50 autobid stops, thats what ive read it as.
