  1. you could buy another car about as cheap.... is really almost imposible to do it... yo u can go the other way easy manual to auto

  2. these kind of conversions are possible, but very expensive and impractical.  unless you want a project and are planning to do it yourself, it'll cost more than your car is worth to get it done.  you'll need a manual tranny which could go from 300-1500 depending on its condition (hard to find in good condition for these cars) then a clutch pedal will need to be put in, which involves custom fabricating mounts inside and shifter and associated links to connect everything.  It can easily go over 5k to have a shop do this for you, if they are even willing. better to sell the car and get a manual. 240s are nice cars btw.

  3. It will be a complicated process no matter what. In the car I drive (a Nissan Maxima) you have to replace the axles during the transmission swap as well as a buttload of other things you wouldn't think to do if you hadn't read a list of what parts you need.

  4. About 2K or so. It would probably be cheaper to sell your car and buy a manual transmission one.

  5. The answer is always the same, for any car.  Locate a junk car just like yours with a manual transmission.  Swap every piece that's different.

Prices will depend only on the price of this car when you find it.  The truth is, if you part the car out, selling all the pieces you don't want, you probably get your manual conversion for free.  I know I would.

  6. Why do people answer without knowing? Who are you helping? Your own ego? Your post count?

240sx 5 speed swaps are very simple if you have some automotive knowledge. I have done about 10 swaps.

If I have all the parts lined up I can do the conversion in one day. Maybe 4 hours if I have a deadline.

If you get your own parts and they are all used and you do the labor yourself you can do this swap for under $1000. Depends on the clutch kit you buy. You can spend $400 on a nice ACT kit. Or if you want to add a B&M shifter, $200.

If you go to a shop do not go to a chain store like Pep Boys you will have to find a small independent import shop. If the shop is willing to use used parts and they line everything up for you and do the labor figure on about $1500.

Here is a great site I used the first time I did the swap....
