Question:

Automobile Accident?

Recently I was involved in a 4 car accident. I was at a stop light waiting for it to turn green. There was a car behind me, and a heavy duty van behind that car. A Ford F-150 ended up hitting the van & ended up causing a chain reaction (F-150>heavy duty van>car>my car) *> = hit *

I am currently waiting for the accident report to be available (says to wait 5-10 days)

The driver of the F-150 smelled like alcohol when he came out and asked myself, and the other 2 drivers of their respective cars if they were ok. He then left the scene of the accident, leaving his vehicle and his cell phone, before the police arrived.

What is my best possible options right now? I'm waiting for the accident report to become available, and still have yet to call my insurance company.

  1. call your ins. co. right away. I don't understand why people are reluctant to call their carrier. You pay premiums for a reason the ins. co. works for you.

  2. I was the victim of hit and run a few weeks ago.  You can call your insurance company, but since its not your fault you dont have to.  they give you two options

    1. wait and claim it directly through the other insurance

    2. claim it through them and they will get reimbursed by the other company.. however, with this option you will have to pay your deductible and stuff.  i suggest the first option.

Call the police tomorrow and ask about the report.  they told me the same thing and it was done in less than two days.  And, maybe if it's not done, they can tell you the other person's insurance info.

I dont know if your report will be the same, but on mine the insurance companies were listed as numbers, and i had to call mine and ask what the number stood for.  Just to give you a heads up.

    good luck!

  3. Call your insurance company because they will be able to get the report quicker that you and they will also be able to get you into another car if needed.....

  4. Call your insurance company ASAP. They will get you fixed up and sort the mess out for you.

  5. Call your insurance company and report everything.  If you are hit from behind, you are not at fault.  he car directly behind you should have left a safe distance, but if he did not, if may be partially his fault and the F150.  Either way, you may be in the clear but defin. report it.  Good luck!
