I was in a accident where a person rear-ended me which caused me to rear-end the vehilcle in from of me. Now, the insurance appraiser told me that my car would probably be totaled out, what does this mean when there are only cosmetic damages to the car. The car still runs perfectly.

  1. Ask the adjuster why he / she thinks your vehicle should be totaled. The insurance company will give you fair market value for your vehicle.

  2. A car is "totaled" when the overall cost of the repairs are higher than the value of the car.  You may be able to choose to keep the car, but the title will be marked as totaled.

  3. that means your car is going to the junkyard, but some insurance companies will give you less money and let you keep the car ...good luck

  4. Im really sorry but if he deferentially said totaled

that means that it wouldn't be cost effective to

fix therefore they will crush it or use it for parts

at a scrap yard but your insurer should get you

a car of the value that that one was
