Automobile roof top ?

I recently purchased a convertible roof top vehicle. The roof is extremely tight making it very hard to close. Being a older model car the steel is stiff as well as the roof. What are home remedies that I may use to soften the top making it easier to close the roof?

the reason it,s tight is maybe because it,s new. once you keep using it, it should loosen up some.
