Auxerre president expresses his delight in holding on to Delvin N’Dinga – Ligue 1 news
President of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Bourgoin has expressed his delight in holding on to Congo international Delvin N’Dinga in this summer’s transfer window.
The 23-year-old defensive midfielder was hotly linked with a move to seven-time Ligue 1 champions http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 but Auxerre successfully rebuffed Lyon’s attempts in luring the talented midfielder to the Stade Gerland.
N’Dinga also wished to leave the Burgundy club for the Rhone giants and during the transfer window, expressed his ambition to play in the Champions League this season. However, Lyon were not able to meet Auxerre’s demands for the youngster. Auxerre wanted
10 million euros for the services of the Congolese while Lyon were willing to pay just 6 million.
Bourgoin now reveals that he never intended to let go of N’Dinga from the first time Lyon made contact with him. The ambitious president wants to see his team qualify for the UEFA Champions League once again and is not willing to sacrifice one of his team’s
most important players in the process.
While talking to L’Equipe, the Frenchman said, “Some president warmly congratulated me for that! Those who know me know that I never give up. If you want to qualify for the Champions League you do not lose N’Dinga. Between him and me, there is a particular
story. He came into football at the training centre that I opened up in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Congo-c2875. He is my boy and I am his dad. How would you want to leave when your family needs you?”
The biggest blow for Auxerre in the transfer window came when Benoit Pedretti left for Lille. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ireneusz-Jelen-c17008 also left for Lille. However, Bourgoin said that he was not hit hard by the two departures. The Auxerre supremo revealed that he never had any plans
for Jelen and added that Pedretti was never going to remain at the club once former coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jean-c18112 Fernandez left the club.
However, holding on to N’Dinga was Auxerre’s primary objectives and even though the youngster must be a bit disappointed at not being able to move to Lyon, his presence at the club could prove to be of immense value as Bourgoin looks to take the club to
a new era in its illustrious history.
