Avantha Masters 2011: Updates from second round
The Avantha Masters is underway at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon, India. Here is a quick glance at the leaderboard after the second round.
Rafael Cabrera-Bello from Spain holds a temporary lead after smashing four birdies in the back and one at the sixth hole in the front. The Spaniard dropped a shot on the seventh and the ninth hole and capped the round at 8-under-par. He carved four birdies
and one eagle in the first 18 holes to compile an aggregate of nine-under after two rounds.
One stroke shy of the leader was a group of four players. Robert Coles, Shiv Kapur, Mark F Haastrup and Kiradech Aphibarnrat compiled an aggregate of 7-under-par to take a spot in the topmost section of the leaderboard. The whole group improved folds as
compared to their first round performance in which they scored in 70s.
The lowest score has been produced by a local seed, Shiv Kapur. The player teed from the back and birdied three consecutive holes starting from the 16th. He picked four more shots, one in the back and three in the front.
Another superb scorecard was produced by the Danish seed, Haastrup. He picked six birdies without a loss and maintained 100 per cent Green Hits in Regulation.
With a score of two-under-par is yet another duo, Thaworn Wiratchant and Lu Wei-chih. They posted 70 in the first round and 68 in the second. Chinese Taipei’s Lu eagled the closing hole on the back which has been conquered by three more players.
Meanwhile, Jeev Milkha Singh managed to post a single birdie in the front after four holes. The Indian netted six birdies and one eagle against two double-bogeys in the first round while his compatriot Shiv Shankar Prasad Chowrasia dropped one shot in the
18-hole session against four birdies.
The worst score so far is 79, which has been produced by a local seed, Vishal Singh.
