  1. There is not The BEST for say but I have a list of programs I have used for a very long time and have NEVER had a slowed up computer and have always caught any and every virus thats ever gotten onto my computer.

    -McAfee 12 in 1 Security Center (anti-virus)

    -Spyware Doctor with AV (anti-spyware)

    -PC Tools Firewall Plus(free) (firewall)

    -ThreatFire(free) (added virus protection)

-CCleaner(keep computer running pretty good, cleans up history and whatnot)

    -Firefox(safe browser)

*While McAfee and SD aren't free they are well worth the money however and add in ThreatFire and you have a very very solid security system

  2. Avast is definitely the one to go for. Used to be AVG7, but they are not so reliable now.  Avast is amazing, free, and very, very, reliable.  Set to automatic updates, will update daily, and if anything found will sound a siren. I highly recommend it. Please consider joining Yahoo Group cafe_iqsubscribe@yahoogroups.com.  This is where I have learnt everything.  Also make sure you download a good free spyware programme. such as spybot search and destroy. Good luck.

  3. yes! i love this antivirus. its so much better than norton and its free!

webroot spy sweeper is the best antivirus out there though if you want to pay for antivirus software.

    but i def recommend avast.

  4. most of the legitimate anti virus program had a pay but if you want a free dont expect they can give a full protections. a lot of best ie. trend micro, avg and avast.

  5. Avast is defintally good freeware. I highly recommend it if your not willing to pay for anything. I personally use zone alarm security suite. Comes with a triple layer firewall, im protection, vault protection, program control, antispyware, and antivirus all in one. Its great and uses up less memory then norton would any day.

  6. Yes, Avast antivirus is a very good free antivirus program. It's very easy to use but highly effective in keeping viruses off your PC. I would recommend this product.

You can download it at Avast.com. Don't forget to register before the 60 day trial runs out.(Don't be confused, it's totally free. You just have to register to get the license key). Registration is easy and can be done in less than 30 seconds. After registration you will get a license key sent to your email. Follow instructions and insert it into your Avast program then you're set for 1 whole year.

Good Luck keeping those viruses off your PC!

  7. Of the free anti-virus programs, yes I would recommend Avast or Avira. Kaspersky is the best all-round anti-virus program. NOD32 is just as good if not better, it runs faster and has less software conflicts but may be more difficult to use.

Recent tests prove Kaspersky and NOD32 are better than the best sellers Norton and McAfee (av-comparatives.org). Norton is notoriously bloated and takes forever to perform full systems scans.

Trend Micro Antivirus is a viable alternative if you're having a lot of trouble with software conflicts. Trend Micro rounds out the top three. BitDefender is very good as well, but gives a high number of false alarms.

The most popular free anti-virus programs (AVG and Avast) have poor detection rates (82.82%, 87.46% respectively). If you want a free anti-virus Avira has higher detection rates than AVG or Avast! (94.26%).

  8. It has the highest detection rate out there... it's one of the most legit, and best anti-viruses every made.
