  1. my daughter's peditrician said she likes to see a 5 oz. gain per week for newborns.

  2. i know by the 6 month mark they should have doubled their weight, with my experience my son gained about 2 or 3 pounds at every doctors appt so far.. he's 8 months old and weighs about 25 lbs

  3. My baby was born at 7lb 8.5 oz and when we left the hospital 3 days later she was 7lb 1oz. From there she was 8lb 3days later, and 8lb 12oz a week after that. At this point she has to be at least 10lb and is 7wks old. Not sure the real approximations per week but hopefully this helps give an idea. My baby is breatfed as well :)

  4. It is around 0.5lb to 1lb per week is the expected weight gain.. But like life every baby is different and so some will be a little under that and some a little (or a lot) over that..  lol

Babies go through spurts as well where they seem to "grow like weeds" lol.   They do like to see a doubling of birth weight by about 6 months and a tripling of birth weight by 12 months.

  5. All babies are different, some gain more and others gain less. Although there may be a general chart, I think it also depends on the genetic make-up of a child. For example, my daughter is almost 4 months and has already doubled her weight (17 lbs) and is as equally tall (26 1/2 in) and a friend of mines son is six months and just now doubling his weight. ( We both breastfeed as well. General rule of thumb: if your child is gaining weight and thriving, and reaching all his/ her milestones then he/she is fine. A great book I recommend is "Your Baby's First Year - week by week." By: Glade B. Curtis, M.D., and Judith Schuler, M.S. It tells you the average weight/height etc. that your baby should be and what the weekly milestones are. It also list some great tips that can help your child developmentally etc. I hope this helps! Have a great night!
