  1. (65 mph)(1hr/60min) (22 min) = 23 5/6 miles

    (600-23 5/6) miles / 95mph = time for second part of trip

    6.0649hr = t

    total time = 6.0649hr + 22min = 6.0649 hr + 22/60 hr = 6.4317 hr

    ave speed = 600 miles / 6.4317 hr = 93.2899 mph

  2. This is the decimal expansion of 65 miles per 22 mins: .36666...

    Therefore we just need to multiply by 65mph which equals: 28.8333...

    That is how much is traveled in the first part of the trip.

    So then: 600-28.8333=576.1666... is how much left to travel.

    At 95 mph, this equates to 576.1666/95 or 6.06491228... hrs.

    So the total amount of time spent is 36666... hrs + 6.06491228... hrs;

    this is approximately 6.431578947... hrs.

    Since the average speed is distance/time, the estimated answer is:

    600/6.431578947 or ABOUT 93.2896890397...mph.

  3. First, figure out what fraction of 1 hour 22 minutes is.

    22/60=.3667

    Multiply that by your speed (65 MPH), and that gives you how many miles you've traveled in your first 22 minutes.

    .3667x65=23.8333

    So now you have 600-23.8333=576.1667 miles left to travel.

    Divide that by your new speed (95 mph)

    576.1667/95=6.065 Hours.

    You went 22 minutes at one speed.

    Remember 22 minutes=.3667 Hours from the first equation.

    Another 6.065 Hours.

    =6.43 Hours

    Average speed=Distance/Time.

    600 Miles/6.43 Hours=Roughly 93.29 MPH

  4. For the first 22 minutes, at 65 mph, the car travels 65 * 22/60 miles or 23.8 miles. The remaining 576+ miles will be done at 95 mph.

    The difference that the initial 65 mph distance makes should be insignificant compared to the huge portion of the trip that's being done at 95 mph.

    My estimate for the average would be 95 mph.

  5. To solve this question you first need to find the distance traveled in the first 22 minutes.

    use the formula: s=d/t

    22 minutes = 22/60 = 0.3667hours

    65 = d/ 0.3667

    65 x 0.3667 = d

    d = 22.002 miles so 22miles

    How far left to travel?  600 - 22 = 578miles

    Formula again to find the time taken.

    s = d/t

    95 = 578/ t

    t = 578/ 95

    t = 6.08 hours

    Add together the total time taken.

    6.08 + 0.3667 = 6.4467 hours to travel 600 mile.

    Average speed can then be calculated for the entire trip.

    s = d/ t

    s = 600/ 6.4467

    s = 93.071 miles per hour

    Round off to average speed being 93miles per hour

    Have FUN!!

  6. There is not enough data. How much time did it take to accelerate? Or what distance did it travel while accelerating? Or what was the acceleration rate?
