  1. Ask your question in the New Zealand category rather than Australia.

  2. Depends on where you're from if you will consider New Zealand expensive or affordable but while I was living there for about 7 months I spent more on food than I normally do back home in America. I didn't keep an single bill but I kept a running tally of all my expenses while I was there and overall the country was expensive for me. My working holiday money just wasn't bringing in enough cash. I'm vegan so I can't comment on the price of meat/diary. I noticed a lot of products I was buying was from Australia and that could have raised the price. There's a lot of local agriculture so some things were cheaper than I'm used to such as pine nuts. Again, I don't eat honey, but now when I see manuka honey or just tea tree oil, I shudder at how expensive it is imported and how cheap it was while I was in NZ.

  3. I hate that people lump Australia and New Zealand together. please stop.

    but to answer your question...

i was there for 6 months and spent between 70 and 110 NZD for 2 people every 9-10 days. I dont have a receipt but this included a different meal every night, snacks, toiletries, lunches, tons of juice and even beer and wine pretty much weekly.... (and cadbury chocolate... lots of it)
