Does anyone know what the average wage is for workers in India - factory workers - making clothes?

& what is the average daily take home pay?

With that average daily take home pay...what can they buy with this? (e.g. food for one day / food for one week / one item of clothing...etc)

Thankyou!

  1. It all depends which City of India, the worker is employed.

In Ambala, a skilled Industrial Worker gets around Rs. 250/- per day, where as in Derabassi same Worker may get a little less or little more, any thing between Rs. 240/- to Rs. 260/- per day. In Chandigarh, up to Rs. 270/- per day. Same worker can expect in a place like Panipat Rs. 280/- per day.

Cost of Living, also Veriee from City to City.

Your concern on rising cost of living is worth appreciating.

Two square meals, cloths to cover them selves and shelter.

i.e., 'Roti, Kaprha, aur Makkan' :-}))

  2. in our money i have been told that £1 a day is a a lot to people in india .. i have several pakistani customers and they say u can hire loads of people at a quid a day and they think they are really well off

  3. It depends which part of india the worker is.

For example In Kerala state a bricklayer gets Rs350 a day  wheras in the neighbouring state he gets only Rs100.

Once again the cost of stuff varies from state to state (and to a certain extent from town to town)

    .

For example the cost of chicken on christmas eve was Rs60/kg in Cochin wheras it cost Rs100 in Bangalore city.
