Average water gallon usage for 2 people?

Question

I live in a 2 bedroom apartment with one roommate. Our water bill for 45 days said that we used 9,500 gallons of water. This seems a little crazy to me considering we don't have a washing machine in the apartment , have only run the dishwasher twice, don't drink the water, and don't water the lawn. I'm new at the whole paying bills thing...so just wondering if this is way excessive?
