Avery Bradley to undergo surgery on right shoulder on Tuesday – NBA News
The Boston Celtics shooting guard Avery Bradley is set to undergo a shoulder surgery that will have him missing action when the next season commences.
Bradley is just coming off a surgery to his left shoulder - during the Playoffs back in May - that forced him to miss the playoffs and ended his season. The Celtics eventually lost in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Miami
Heat.
Now, Bradley will have a surgery to his right shoulder which will see him be absent from the Celtics squad when next season commences. It is presently unclear for how many months Bradley will be out but he will definitely not be
back in time for the start of next season.
Bradley is an important member of the Celtics squad, one who the Celtics had prepared to take over the role of veteran shooting guard Ray Allen. However as the things have turned out, Allen has decided to move to the Miami Heat
and Bradley has now been sidelined.
The Celtics will now most probably start with shooting guard Jason Terry next season in Bradley’s absence. Terry was recently acquired from the Dallas Mavericks for a three year deal.
ESPN has also reported that Celtics have started looking for some more shooting guards options, with Courtney Lee as one of the players in whom the Celtics seem interested. Lee played for the Houston Rockets last season and started
in 26 of the 58 games he played, averaging 30.3 minutes per game. He averaged 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals last season and is a good all round player who can contribute on a nightly basis.
The Bradley surgery is a blow for the Celtics, who were looking forward to Bradley taking up the responsibility of the shooting guard this season with the departure of Ray Allen.
He is one of the players the Celtics are looking to build their franchise upon in the future, and back to back shoulder injuries to the guard might have raised doubts in the team’s head regarding his health and fitness. With Terry
in the lineup, the Celtics will be fine for the immediate future, but need Bradley to return to full fitness in the long term.
