  1. As a Mavs fan, i say yes,

Players decide coaches fortunes and winnings in the NBA, especially the NBA.

    Prime Examples:

    Dallas Mavericks (Avery)

    Boston Celtics (Doc Rivers)

  2. It doesn't matter.  Cuban paid him for the entire contract.  That Cuban guy have class.  I wouldn't mind working for him.  Dallas wants to try a different direction.  And that's understandable given that he's had enough opportunity to win a championship and couldn't.

  3. Because the mavs are retards

  4. i think the players tuned out avery... i mean you can only take so much of that voice (or was that just me?). but i also think it was cuban's way of saying its avery fault that the kidd trade didn't work out. of as of now it doesn't look like its working, whether or not that his fault is debatable. he did take kidd out in some late game situations and he also didn't give jason much freedom with the offense . there were some rumblings that coach johnson wanted to trade dirk after the first round collapse of the mavs against g.s. in the first round, but thats been debated too from both sides.

  5. well he never won when it mattered most. you can go 82-0 but if you dont win the whole thing, it's pretty much meaningless. look at the pats of this past year. perfect regular season but failed when it mattered most. remember there is no such thing as loyalty in sports. the nba and all the other sports are busniness' first. it's all about money and what you have done for them lately. avery couldnt get it done in the post season so he got the axe.

  6. Avery Johnson wasn't the reason he was fired...his players not living up to their expectations from the success of previous seasons is the reason...Avery will be back with another club very shortly

  7. I don't know if you can say he was singled out, but he has to be somewhat accountable.

It was his job to keep the message fresh and keep the team playing hard, but I kind of felt towards the end of the season, the players lost respect for him.

Kidd was not being utilizied to the satisfaction of Mark Cuban and considering the investment Cuban made to get him, you can somewhat understand where he's coming from. Granted, Kidd is 35 and he's not the most dominant PG in the game anymore, but he does give the team easy baskets still and he can still have an effect on the game whether he scores or doesn't.

Bottom line, while the team failed as one, Johnson didn't do his best to keep them together and now he's gone fishin'.

  8. he stepped into a playoff team who were already having success, so its not because he made the team that much better.  hes had the talent on the team with the mavs, but he just couldnt get them to play with fire.  he was more of a friend to the players than a coach who would demand respect.  the players always said they respect him, but they talk to him like hes a rookie on the team.

  9. Players and the owner could not get the job done so they had to blame someone!

  10. You forget that these guys were contenders before Avery was at the helm.  They didn't need much coaching in the first place.  Soo in reality he really didn't do anything with this team.
