Avg salaray of pilot??

I was wondering the average salary of a commercial airline pilot like someone who flys for southwest or american airlines or something??? thanks !!!

$1.85 is per diem...it is NOT in addition to your salary.  Per diem is reimbursement for food and other expenses you incur while on the road.

It may seem like it is on top of you salary but since you are really paying for food and drinks out of your pocket it is not really in addition to your salary.  Per diem is not subject to income tax unless you earn it on a single day trip from your domicile and back.

1.85 per hour sounds like a per diem...in addition to your salary, like you get 30k a year base + 1.85 extra for each flight hour.

In your first 10 - 15 years as a pilot, salaries aren't going to be  great.  After you get into a big company like you listed, you can make six figures with seniority, but that all takes quite a while.

What the 1.85 Hour Per Diem the guy above me is talking about is the time you are actually on duty, this will vary from Airline to Airline.. From there you are paid by credit hours. Depending on where you work you pay will vary greatly.

Regional FO $15-25 a hour

Regional CA $ 30-90 a hour

Major FO $30-$130 a hour

Major CA $130-$220

These are just estimates it depends on the Airline and Senoirity and Equipment can all become factors.

With that said most airlines you are guarenteed 75 hours of pay every month. You can also fly up to 120 hours a month of revenue flying. But pay usually is by the credit hours ( the estimated time it takes to complete a leg of a flight). Its very confusing.
