avg has found two trojans;

c:/windows/system32/__c00e3100.dat

c:/windows/system32/winlogon.exe (732)

a) what'll happen if i delete them by manually finding them?

b) is it advised to do this? if so, are there any precautions i need to take?

c) is it okay if the trojans just stay in the virus vault?

thnx.

  1. Run malwarebytes because the free version of AVG dosent remove backdoor Trojans hosting the viruses. then finally run AVG to get ride of the viruses being hosted by the backdoor Trojan

  2.   Interesting that its identifying winlogin.exe as a trojan.  Are you 100% positive that you own a legit copy of windows? The virus Vault should work to prevent the trojan from taking control of the system to do whatever it has been designed to do.  You should therefor be safe so long as your avg is functioning properly.  I would download spybot seek and destroy from cnet downloads and give it a run also just to be sure there isnt more stuff floating around in the system.  Make sure that noone using the computer is downloading illegal copies of games or keygens to various programs.  They typically are associated with trojans.  I assume that avg was unable to heal the files???

  3. yeap C is good dont delete unless u are planing to reinstall windows

  4. If you delete them your windows will not work properly i think
