Aviation Elctronics Technician?

I'm going to graduate MCT in 2 weeks and my MOS is Aviation Electronics Technician. I was wondering what its like and what we do? also If I request okinawa as my first duty station, do you think I will most likely get it?

  1. It's a great job.

    I spent 15 years as an AT in the Navy. We basically do the same thing, except we are trained for ships and you are trained for combat.

    You will be trained with and working with sailors frequently since Marine and Navy aviation is combined on ships and at many installations.

    You can be on the O-level side or the I-level side.

    If O-level, you will be working in a squadron, troubleshooting planes that have electronic problems. It's outside so you are subject to the elements, but great sense of accomplishment when the plane takes off.

    If I-level, you will be working in a repair work center fixing the bad parts off of planes. In AC and nice and cozy, but kind of boring.

    Overall, I think it is a good job. Plenty of job opportunities on the outside.

    You should request Iwakuni. This is where the Marine air base is (and all the jobs in the aviation field).
