i just want to know is the avid juicy 5 allot better than the juicy 3 i know the 3 is oem only and doesnt have the split handlebar attachment and the 3 has dot 4 brake fluid and not the dot 5.1 in the 5 i also know that the 5 has a one piece caliper while the 3 is split

but what i want to know is the juicy 5 worth the extra £13 ($26 estimate)

btw i ride street so i need reasonablely powerful brakes for stoppies tricks and because its not downhill im not really bothered by fade

  1. I don't really know in performance, I guess that the main stuff is the same regarding stopping power and such.  Maybe the DOT fluid will make for a different feel?  But I'm just guessing.

I think that some differences might be on the instalation.  On the -3 you will need to remove your grips, while on the -5 I think you don't have to (that's the split handlebar thingie for).  Depending on how stuck your current grips might be to the handlebar, it might mean needing new grips (but I'm just guessing, some grips can come out pretty easily).  I think I read in a post a while back that the -3 doesn't have the hose to adapt to any angle, while the -5 does.  Depending on the frame, it would just make a different routing.  No big issues, but maybe I would go for the -5.  Is the $26 difference per brake, or per pair?  If it's per pair, I wouldn't doubt.  If it is per brake, I guess I would go with the -3.
