Aviso primed to perform well at Stratford – Handicap Hurdle Preview
Aviso is all set to show his marvellous racing skills at Stratford racecourse on Monday, March 12 and notch up first position in DC Catering Handicap Hurdle race which will begin at 4:10 (GMT).
The David Evans-trained bay gelding is fully equipped with form and stamina to fight against 10 competitors in the high-stakes Class 3 contest of 2m110y distance.
For the prize money of £5,198, the 58-race veteran horse will run against Della Sun, J’ Adhere, Mauritino, Drumshambo, Marcus Antonius, Traditional Bob, Red Skipper, Tayarat, Battleoftrafalgar and Musnad.
With the dawn of 2012, Aviso suddenly and miraculously gained plenty of confidence. The 8-year-old experienced runner impressed all by accomplishing a fabulous hat-trick during the month of January.
It was surprising for many as the gelding had been winless throughout 2011. Three gigantic victories at three different tracks established Aviso as a hot favourite runner coupled with taking his confidence level to sky.
During February, the M. Duthie-trained gelding again delivered two eye-catching performances, finishing third and second.
In his last outing on February 24, the dashing horse demonstrated immense firepower while competing against 13 runners at Warwick course and walked away with the top spot again.
Thus, Aviso seems to be in the most favourable position on today’s card to win the Handicap Hurdle. He will surely show a big run at Stratford where he is going to play for the very first time in his long career. His chances to finish first are as high as 90 percent.
Out of Aviso’s opponents, Mauritino and Marcus Antonius look to be somewhat strong at the moment and each of them can give tough time to the top favourite runner.
Mauritino achieved a number of outstanding feats during the last year. After making an epic hat-trick during April-May 2011, the bay gelding went on to win two consecutive races in the month of October. He last ran on December 26.
On the other hand, Marcus Antonius boosted up his morale by finishing first in his last race on February 29, 2012. Overall, the trainee of Jim Boyle has won 3 out of his total 22 starts to date.
In this situation, it is anticipated that the Handicap Hurdle will be an awe-inspiring competition. There will be witnessed a tough battle between Aviso and Mauritino for the title. Let us see who gains what.
