Hello...I bought a brand new 2007 pontiac G6 value leader sedan back in January 07. Never had problems with the car until February 2008. Went to Authorized Dealer to have the Avital 2200 installed in my car. In June of 2008...I notice when I hit the transmitter to unlock the car doors, there was no chirp and also notice the lights inside the car remanined on. I started the car and the engine light came on and the car shutdown. I went to the dealership and before they started running the diagnostic test the mechanic use the transmitter to unlock and lock the door and knew right away the after market alarm was causing the issue. The wire from the alarm triggered the BCM to malfuction which caused the daylights to stop running, radio was not working, anything electrical in the car was not working. I paid $598 for the dealership to order new BCM. The Mechanic said to me the work done was very sloppy and too many wires installed. I went back to the Authorized Dealer and told me the Dealerships will always blame us. He uninstall the alarm unit and engine light went off. Can anyone how the alarm triggered the BCM to fail? Should I take the Authorized Dealer's word or Mechanic words. I found it very strange that the Mechanic said once the unit is out of the car...guarantee the light will go off. Sure enough...that is exactly what happened. He told me cars come in all the time with after market installments that causes the car to malfunction.
