Avon Reps? I have a question...?

My Avon lady charges a 75 cent service fee on every order. Is she doing that on her own, or does Avon charge her and she just passes it on to me? Is it a set fee?

I recently had a backordered item which cost $2.25, but because it came in later than the orig order, I got charged the additional 75 cent fee. This does not seem fair to me, since the backorder problem was not my fault. Is this something that you would do on one of your backorders. Just curious.

  1. As an ex Avon rep in the UK I can only say that I have never heard of this system before, I find it quite horrifying! The way it works in the UK is the rep collects door to door orders sends them to Avon who distribute them to the rep at cost price(lower than the brochure price-this is how the rep makes her/his income(must say though the brochures and bags and samples etc have to be paid for by the rep) . The rep can however back order by one brochure without it affecting their commission and the customer gets their order at the price that they ordered it at without surplus charge. However if it were in between orders as we call a late order then avon charge the rep for delivery. Sayibg that I had a few customers that were going on hols and wanted something quick I had to pay the delivery charge myself as I felt they were valued customers and would not have considered asking them. I hope this has answered your question. I would however take it up with her as this is quite scandalous to me! Good luck :-)


  2. AVON charges us a .75 cent handling fee. If we didn't charge our clients this fee then we would have to pay it out of pocket. If you have 100 customers that adds up to $75 dollars out of pocket. This does not include bags, brochures, etc. I know this is frustrating but it's the way it has to be done. Now my customers doesn't pay for back ordered items until they are received. As long as the client has a good rapport. I do however charge the .75 cent fee on the backorder item because it's still charged to me. That's my policy.

  3. I was an Avon rep  few years ago, and they charged me this for every customer. Or I atleast had to charge it to every customer.  I remember this fee having to be paid.

  4. I sell BeautiControl, and the only thing we charge is tax and shipping... if a product is backordered we would NOT charge the client for that!  That is unfair.  I can say that I have used their products and prefer ours(even before I started selling it).  Feel free to take a look at my website, beautipage.com/laurakcox.
