Avram Grant is safe
Co-owner of West Ham United, David Gold, has told manager Avram Grant that his job is safe.
There have been strong suggestions within the media that Grant was facing the possibility of being sacked after West Ham's poor start to the season. The Hammers currently sit bottom of the Premier League, having lost all four games played so far.
Gold said, "...its four games against clubs who we took two points off last term, so we're just behind. This will be called a vote of confidence, but I assure you it is a proper vote of confidence."
Consolidation and confidence is key for a West Ham at a time when the club is not performing well. Grant is a very good manager, and should be able to increase the team’s level of play.
A good move
Letting Avram know he is safe is a wise move on the part of West Ham; sacking the manager after four games would be counterproductive. A new manager would have to come in and take time to settle down at the club, and this would just waste more time.
Grant was actively sought after by West Ham after the manager said he was quite happy in his previous job at Portsmouth. This demonstrates that West Ham has a long-term vision of Grant as the club's manager.
The former Chelsea leader is not a bad manager-he is still learning things about the club, and it's only a matter of time before the side gets a Premier League point on the board. He must be given the time to brand his tactics and style over the team.
Gold added, "Against one of the world's best, Chelsea, we saw a spirited performance which we can build on. Avram is safe. We will very quickly climb up."
Betting advice
West Ham United has too much quality across the playing squad to be favoured for relegation. Grant will have the side playing well in no time, so back the Hammers to avoid the drop.
