The left handed batsman from Rawalpindi, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 later this month, and vows to make it big at the international stage.
The left handed batsman came through the ranks of junior cricket in the country and made his first-class debut in 2007. Zia has had impressive performances in the first-class circuit but he made a name for himself in the domestic T20. He has been playing
exceptionally well in the shortest format of the game and got the attention of the selectors due to his impressive batting displays.
Awais is a hard-hitting opening batsman, who has modelled his game on the legendary left handed opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Anwar-c87864. After impressing at the domestic level, Zia was given an opportunity to play at the SAARC Under-25 Cricket Tournament in the Maldives. He
made a couple of centuries at the tournament and was named as the Player of the Tournament.
As a result of this, Zia has been given a chance to establish himself at the international level and the three T20s against England are an ideal opportunity for him to do so.
Like all young and upcoming cricketers, he is delighted to have been selected and wants to deliver for his country at the highest level.
Zia said, “I used to believe that it's not easy to be selected for the international team in Pakistan. It's a long journey but ultimately all the hard work has paid off. I am excited and privileged to hold his opportunity because I am the one who is selected
from millions playing cricket in the country.”
The left hander feels that he is lucky to have been given a chance and now he wants to make the most of it.
"What I wanted was a single chance and I am terribly lucky to get a chance to play against a team like England. I am positive about it as I am young, energetic and have plenty of time to serve the country," he added.
