Awakened Spirit tipped to win Wuhan Goodwill Cup Nursery Handicap
Awakened Spirit has got a great chance of winning the Wuhan Goodwill Cup Nursery Handicap at Curragh in Ireland on Saturday, August 25, 2012. A victory will earn her a cash prize of €6,900 in the end.
Rain has affected quite a few races in Ireland over the past couple of weeks and the situation is similar at Curragh as well. The going has been described as soft to heavy because of the wet weather overnight. This will definitely test the skills of all
runners in the 6 furlong event and some of the owners might end up withdrawing their participants from the race.
However, some participants will see the wet conditions as an opportunity to shine in the race. One of them will be Lady Gosford, who has been given the best odds by the bookmakers. She has appeared in just three races, winning once. Her success came in her
most recent outing under wet conditions, thus the punters will be eying to risk a lot of bets in her favour.
On the other hand, Awakened Spirit will also be in contention of a victory, as she is a decent performer and will like the track at Curragh. She also lacks experience, but that is the case with all the runners today, so it will not make a big difference
at the end of the day.
The young filly will enter the event with a starting price of 5 to 1 and she will definitely get the attention of the bettors, as she is carrying the winning momentum right now.
The David Wachman’s trainee made her debut in June this year and did a reasonable job in her first ever race. She was priced 7 to 2 back then and was expected to be competitive. However, she was unable to fight for the top three positions and had to settle
for fifth place in the end.
Things worked out well for Awakened Spirit in her next race, as she managed to take the top spot comfortably by one and a half length. She was not rated as the favourite to succeed back then, but displayed extremely good speed to surprise one and all.
A similar run will definitely ensure another victory for the Irish filly, who will be partnered by Wayne Lordan.
