Award Winner expected to shine in Claydon Horse Exercisers Handicap Hurdle
Award Winner is likely to shine in the Claydon Horse Exercisers Handicap Hurdle at Folkestone in England on Tuesday, December 4, 2012. He is not very young, but has been delivering some really good results in this form of racing, which will boost the confidence
of his team.
The weather has not been good for racing over the past couple of days, so the going has become soft. This will definitely test some of the runners, as they will not like running on a rain affected ground.
A total of eight runners have been attracted towards the class-4 contest, which is scheduled to kick off at 12:30 GMT. Stamina will be the key today, as the overall distance to cover is 2 miles, 6 furlongs and 110 yards.
The triumphant stallion will be given a cash prize of £2,469 in the end, thus everyone will be pushing extremely hard to claim the top spot.
Inner Steel has managed to win the confidence of the bookmakers, despite the fact that he has never managed to succeed in a race over hurdles. His overall performances have not been bad though, which will help him get the attention of the punters.
He has been given a general starting price of 7 to 2 because of his previous two runs in this format. He finished as a runner up in both those events and will be looking forward to take one step forward this time around.
The Lydia Richards’ trained gelding has appeared in a total of 11 races over hurdles and is yet to open his account. He has secured the second place on five times though, which shows that he has the ability to be competitive.
On the other hand, Award Winner has got plenty of experience and is fully aware of how to tackle pressure. He will like the soft ground at Folkestone, as he brought up a victory under similar conditions recently.
However, the Brendan Powell’s trainee was unable to make a strong impression last time around and ended up in a disappointing 12th place. He will look to forget that and focus on today’s race. His partner will be seasoned jockey, A. P. McCoy.
