Award Winner likely to register a win at Fontwell
Throughout September, Award Winner remained out of action and did a lot of workout to raise his stamina. All this paid him off when the Brendan Powell trained bay gelding marvellously won the high-stakes race of Bathwick Tyres Taunton Handicap Hurdle on
October 18.
With high spirit and extreme enthusiasm, the nine-year-old veteran horse is going to compete for the ace title of the Champagne Joseph Perrier Handicap Hurdle that will go down at Fontwell racecourse on Wednesday, October 24.
Over the heavy track of 2 miles, 6 furlongs and 110 yards, Award Winner will show his guts against half a dozen strong rivals.
Considering the way he performed in the last race and his decent record at Fontwell, the bettors have picked the experienced British horse as the 4-7 hot favourite candidate for today’s contest.
As a whole, the son of Alflora out of Blackwater Bay has accomplished seven triumphs off his total 41 starts.
However, this season has not been lucky for him. From February to August, he ran for five times but failed to make any impact. Now, he is keen to compensate the whole loss by bagging a few titles towards the end of the year.
Though Award Winner is awash with winning momentum, but he will have to apply an extra-ordinary force to win this race as the conditions are somewhat testing. It is going to be hard for him to handle the heavy surface as he has very nominal experience with

This shows that the John P. McManus owned gelding can do well over this track. The only threat to him will be Jerry Lee who marvellously won Check Betfair Before You Bet Handicap Hurdle at Fontwell on March 7.
