Awesome Feather to extend her perfect unbeaten record in the Gazelle Stakes at Aqueduct
The 2010 2-year-old champion filly, Awesome Feather will be seen in action for the second time this year when she will represent her connections in the Grade 1, $250,000 Gazelle Stakes at Aqueduct race course on 26 November, 2011, on dirt over at 1 1/8 miles
against 8 other 3-year-old fillies.
Trained by Chad C. Brown for Stronach Stables, Awesome Feather was on a rampage last year and she topped her perfect 2010 season with an emphatic win in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Churchill Downs on 5 November, 2010, over at 1 1/16 miles
with the winning time of 1 minute and 45.13 seconds.
Prior to the Breeders’ Cup glory which eventually became the reason for her 2010 juvenile filly of the year honours, Awesome Weather had won 5 races in as many starts, starting from her maiden breaking race at Calder racecourse over at four and a half furlongs
on 1 May, 2010.
Staying at Calder, Awesome Feather jumped to the lead and registered a gate to wire victory in her second start, the J J’sdream Stakes at about five and a half furlongs on dirt with the winning time of 1 minute and 6.50 seconds.
Awesome Feather after her second race was about to be part of the Florida Stallion Stakes race program where she was pointed toward the Desert Vixen Stakes to begin with.
The Florida bred daughter of Awesome of Course, out of mare Precious Feather by Gone West, Awesome Feather put on her racing shoes yet again and mystified the lineup to win the stakes race over at six furlongs.
Next up was Susan’s Girl Stakes at Calder race course which resulted in the same manner as the previous one, with Awesome Feather taking the field by a storm and claiming victory in 4 starts prolonging her perfect juvenile season.
To make it 5 out of 5, Awesome Feather succeeded with fly colours when she got stretched in distance in the My Dear Girl Stakes. The 1 1/16 miles stretched out distance didn’t matter to Awesome Feather as she romped past her opponents to make it 5 out of
5.
Awesome Feather raced once this year in the Le Slew Stakes over at seven furlongs at Belmont Park, and kept her unbeaten record in 7 starts intact.
