Zenit St. Petersburg winger, Axel Witsel, has shrugged of the rumours linking him to Chelsea FC and Paris St. Germain this summer after saying that he is not the type of player who likes to change his team every six months for good value of money.
“I signed a five year contract and it has only been six month since I came here. I do not like changing teams every six months like other players. I play for Zenit and I am completely happy at the moment. So, there is no chance. It is common that the newspaper
immediately begin to speculate your future when you play well but I can tell you that these news are not true,” The former Standard Liege man was quoted as saying.
Witsel said that he is happy at the St. Petersburg club despite their failure to win the league title this time around. Luciano Spalletti’s troops failed to lift the domestic trophy for the third time in three years after dropping too many points in April
and May respectively.
The Belgian International joined Zenit from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436 this January. Though the Russian outfit did not give a rough idea about Witsel’s transfer fee paid to the Primeira Liga club, it is thought to be in the region of 30 million
Euros.
News in Russian media have linked the prolific winger, who has created many and scored four goals himself this season, with a move to either London or the mega rich French club this summer.
Roman Abramovich wants to sign Witsel knowing that the blistering pace of the 24-year-old will provide the London-based club more room to attack and provide competition for places in the squad.
PSG head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, is keeping tabs on Witsel following the possible departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 FC this summer.
If speculations are to be believed, Witsel and his agent are waiting for the French outfit to sign a new manager after Ancelotti expressed a desire to leave.
