Axel.dav virus how do i get rid of this horrible virus

hi i have just had a axel.dav virus wipe 6 years of my memories from my computer. how do i go about formatting the hard drive and starting again as advised by microsoft website

This is a new and nasty virus that can hide itself very easily from most Anti Virus programs and is very good at copying itself copiously. Go to this site, you will find several problems and the solutions, also some information about Axel.dav virus.

Read through some of the problems and solutions to find a similar Axel.dav problem to yours and hopefully a way of getting rid of it for good.

Re-install windows with the OS CD.

First you'll need a full copy of the operating system or the recovery disk that came with your computer. Next you need to enter the bios by pressing del at boot. Then you need to make sure the the computer boots using the cd drive. Then insert the cd and either return the machine to factory defaults by using the recovery disk or the windows disk. You may need to use the format c: command to format the disk first before you install windows but remember that you will lose all your files.
